It starts with a question.
A question about something unwanted yet life changing.
It can simply be a “WHY?”
It might be a working mother asking herself why she gets up 4-5 times
every night, which significantly affects her ability to function effectively
at work. Or it could be a grandmother wondering why she can’t pick up
her grandchildren without urinary leakage. Whatever the case may be,
the 17 million women that are affected by bladder control have a solution
for this problem – and for more than 80 percent it can be fixed
without surgery
It’s these questions, and this unmet community need, that prompted
Dr. Greg Bailey to open the Women’s Pelvic Health and Continence
Center, more commonly known as the “Bladder Center for Women”.
After delivering more than 4,000 babies over 15 years, Dr. Bailey
opened his “Bladder Center for Women” in the Women’s Center (Suite
409) at North Florida Regional Medical Center to address the health
issues that most people don’t often discuss.
“It’s not a glamorous thing to talk about,” he said “but the truth is there
is a tremendous need.”
According to Dr. Bailey, it had always been his dream to practice this
type of Gynecology. Commonly referred to as Urogynecology, it’s a
specific field within Gynecology that focuses on women’s pelvic health.
Dr. Bailey is the only physician in the area to offer Interstim
Neuromodulation (www.Interstim.com) with excellent proven results for
the patients.
“There are so many things we can do to make it better.” he said. “It’s
very rewarding”.
Between demonstrating on a yellow, bladder-shaped piece of foam
and showing some of the outpatient procedures on his computer, Dr.
Bailey will tell anyone that what he does now is one of the loves of his
life.
“We improve a lot of people’s lives”, he said, “which is personally
rewarding and the reason why I became a specialist in Urogynecology”.
But what sets his office apart from other hospitals or medical centers
is how many other doctors his patients have to see about their pelvic
health issues.
It’s one. Unlike many other hospitals, Dr. Bailey is able to diagnose
his patients and also perform any surgeries they may need.
It’s this “all-inclusive” type of office that makes it unique in the state
and even in the country.
In fact, to find another office similar to his, a patient would have to
drive to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
Dr. Bailey explains that in most medical institutions patients are referred
to other doctors within the hospital, an unwanted shuffle that
most people have experienced at least once.
After a patient is diagnosed, Dr. Bailey outlines every treatment option
available to address minor to severe bladder and bowel control issues.
They also offer complete gynecological care that includes annual
exams, paps, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, management of menstrual
flow disorders, menopause counseling and birth control.
At the Women’s Pelvic Health “Bladder Center for Women” (Dr.
Greg Bailey), along with his mid-level providers, Amy Kirby, PA-C and
Carole Kalivoda, ARNP have an experienced and friendly staff to help
patients with every aspect of their care.
One of the main reasons patients choose Women’s Pelvic Health, is
because they treat their patients like family.
This comprehensive concept has done so well, in fact, that less than
four months ago, Dr. Bailey proudly opened a satellite center in The
Villages, a retirement community in Sumter County. The Village residents
are so pleased that they have a specialized “Bladder Center for
Women” now available, as well as a place for exceptional and comprehensive
gynecological care, that they have invited Dr. Bailey to be a
guest speaker at their October 23rd POA Meeting. The Villages’ residents
are a very active community and are relieved that they can now
receive care that will allow them to regain their active lifestyle, by eliminating
the inconvenience of bladder/bowel incontinence (control).
Once a diagnosis is made and treatment options are given, his patients
take comfort in knowing their issues have been addressed and find solace
in knowing their problems are under control. Dr. Bailey encourages
all women who may feel they have issues with their pelvic health
to discuss their concerns with their Primary Care Physician or contact
Women’s Pelvic Health directly at either of his two convenient offices,
(Gainesville) 352.333.6161 or (The Villages) 352.750.3636 to
set up a consultation. You can also visit their web site at
www.PelvicHealth.com. Most insurances accepted. |
