Alachua: A City of Promise and Growth PDF Print E-mail
The City of Alachua is a city of promise and growth due to many factors, not the least of which is the quality of the developers who have decided to work in concert with us to become an ever more self-sustaining community.

We have put into place the tools with which we can manage and direct the wise growth to which we are committed—Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Regulations and ordinances designed to make transparent the requirements needed to develop the City within the confines of reason and order. The key to this is the willingness of all parties to have thorough and productive dialogue based on these tools.

We are fortunate in having developers who have chosen to cooperate closely with us to streamline and refine the development process, avoiding the pitfalls that can come about when there is no roadmap for the process. We have the roadmap, we have those willing to follow it and we thus have the type of growth that will provide opportunity and lifestyle choices to all our residents.

Certainly, we value the participation of developers in this growth, and we also believe strongly that educational, research and corporate participants are keys to the comprehensive vision we have for Alachua. Everyone has a seat at the table, and everyone contributes to the limit of their ability. It is what makes a good community great.

By developing the US 441 corridor concept, we will provide for this growth while lessening the impact of local traffic on the highway. Ideally, when developed as envisioned, someone will be able to avail themselves of all the businesses and tenants along this corridor much in the way you might visit someone in your neighborhood, with the planned interconnectivity.

From the research firms at Progress Corporate Park and the Santa Fe College being built to complement them and the community at large, to the campuses of the large corporate partners in the southwest sector, we have labored to provide a mix of opportunities and sites for the type of development that is financially and environmentally sound.

The developers we deal with have enthusiastically subscribed to the transparent, businesslike manner in which we conduct the process. It is conducive to all parties understanding what is required, prohibited or encouraged, and makes their planning easier by knowing initially what they can and should do to successfully develop their property in Alachua. It also protects the community by making it clear what is expected of those who want to join our community, so that areas of concern can be addressed before they cause unneeded delay or costs.

We encourage all like-minded firms to explore the possibilities we have in abundance here, and join us in providing the opportunities for our residents to enjoy a complete, far-reaching and productive life right here in The Good Life Community.
