Steinhatchee is a wonderful place to go. It’s one of the last of the great fishing villages in Florida. It’s so pretty there and the people are so nice. I was there a few weeks ago with Trish from Good Life Community Magazine taking pictures with my friend Susan from The Source Properties promoting Steinhatchee.

It was such a beautiful day to be out on the water. The wind was blowing a bit, but we went out to the mouth of the river and took some photos of a bunch of us with fishing poles. Couldn’t have picked a better day, the water wasn’t too choppy and not a cloud in the sky. The scenery was beautiful as we took two boats a little ways into the mouth of the Gulf. This is one of the last remaining areas of old Florida, and I love to come here to fish and relax as often as I can.

This time I brought my ranch foreman, Frank, who I enjoy fishing with, and the girls talked him into being in a few of the pictures, too. They had a good time finding places for us to pose with our fishing poles. I had such a good time.

I decided to put off fishing until the next morning and spend the afternoon talking to my girls about my upcoming fishing tournament to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children on April 12, 2008. Jeff Miller from Miller's Boating Center in Ocala, Florida, gave us a great discount on a boat we are raffling off for the children.

We hope to be able to donate over $20,000 to the Shriners from this raffle. The Shriners are such a great organization; I have been a Shriner for a long time and can't say enough about what they stand for.

I would like to thank the Lake City West Jacksonville Shrine Club for really embracing the event this year. You know Susan and Sheila told me 60 Shriners have confirmed hotel rooms that weekend and will be in Steinhatchee for the tournament.

What could be better than raising money for disabled children and a weekend full of fishing and music? Now it just can't get better than that.
