Upon meeting Dr. Anthony E. Howe, Clinic Director at Active Chiropractic Health Center, it is obvious that he is a man who genuinely cares about the health and wellbeing of his patients. As a resident of the area since 1988, Dr. Howe recently opened his beautiful new practice in the Fletcher Center Plaza in Jonesville. Dr. Howe is looking forward to providing personal attention with quality care by helping his patients overcome their back pain, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, automobile injuries, and various types of musculoskeletal injury.

As a long-time Floridian, Dr. Howe received his education at the University of Florida while competing in Track and Cross Country. Of course he is a great Gator fan, even though his wife, Julia attended that other school to the north of us, which we won’t mention here in the Gator Nation. Dr. Howe and Julia have two young boys, Jacob age 6 and Brady age 3, who like to practice a few golf swings with Dad when they get the chance; although treats at the snack bar is their favorite part. Julia Howe is a licensed clinical social worker currently in private practice with Sarkis Family Psychiatry, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and trauma. She will soon join Dr. Howe at his practice to offer the service of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method of psychotherapy that offers help for the chronic pain sufferer. Julia is also an instructor at Gainesville Health and Fitness Center teaching the group fitness classes BodyPump™ and BodyFlow™. Dr. Howe, while always having an interest in health is an avid athlete himself, with running and biking featured among his competing in triathlons, and after the recent completion of the Jacksonville Marathon, finds his activities are a great recipe for keeping in shape, while helping to handle stress.

After studying exercise physiology at the University of Florida, which included an internship at the University of California, San Diego where he became certified in MedX spinal rehabilitation. Dr. Howe brought this technology and its protocols to A&P Injury and Rehabilitation in Oklahoma City. Later, Dr. Howe decided to attend chiropractic school at the Port Orange campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic. Palmer College is credited as founding the science of chiropractic in 1895.

Chiropractic medicine is a licensed healthcare discipline that focuses on treatment of joints and its surrounding muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Patients benefit from increased joint movement while decreasing their aches and pains. Not all patients come to Chiropractors with active injuries, some find regular adjustments round out their wellness endeavors. Many professional athletes utilize Chiropractors as an adjunct to their training and recovery. Several sports teams have Chiropractors on their training staff working along side Orthopedists, Athletic Trainers, and Physical Therapists to provide optimal treatment for their athletes.

Having recently graduated, Dr. Howe brings up to date knowledge and experience to his practice. In addition to providing chiropractic adjustments, Dr Howe is a certified Active Release Technique® provider, which is a patented massage technique. ART® providers are on staff at all the Ironman triathlon events in North America to get these athletes ready for competition. In addition, many corporate clients utilize ART® for their workers; common conditions treated include repetitive stress injuries due to poor ergonomics such as carpal tunnel syndrome. He finds the combination of traditional chiropractic adjustments with soft-tissue treatment helps resolve his patients’ aches and pains very quickly.

Dr. Howe’s practice offers a convenient location, with appointment flexibility and availability. As a hands-on practitioner, patients can expect to be treated by an experienced chiropractor. Active Chiropractic intends to include massage therapy in the very near future to round out their overall treatment options.

So if your back hurts, you have constant headaches or you have sustained an injury from a sports activity, or just need the service that chiropractic can provide, call the office of Dr. Anthony E. Howe at Active Chiropractic Health Care. New patients are always welcome and walk-ins are gladly accepted.
