CoverAll Painting & Repairs has grown to become one of Gainesville’s largest and most respected names in the painting industry. From inception, the key to this success has been the drive and determination of owner, Philip Haug. The birth of this company and the story of its incredible success are quite interesting in that Philip never expected or planned to own a painting company.

Philip is originally from Orlando, Florida and came to Gainesville twelve years ago with the hopes of attending law school at the University of Florida. His wife at the time was attending UF’s College of Dentistry, and as a recent graduate from UCF with a degree in Criminal Justice, Philip was searching for a job to support his family while preparing for the entrance exam to law school.

Circumstances at the time did not allow for many openings in the field of Criminal Justice. At the suggestion of a friend who was working in the apartment industry, Philip started painting apartments. This really started as a favor to her at the time, but soon became a flourishing business because Philip’s reputation for reliability and meticulous standards spread quickly. What started out as helping a friend with a few apartments, quickly turned into a contract to paint the entire complex!

Within the first few months of working, Philip was becoming overwhelmed with requests and had to hire on a second person to keep up with the number of apartments he was being asked to complete. He had become a painting business (CoverAll Painting & Repairs) before he was even thinking about if he wanted one! Philip currently runs two businesses from a sprawling 7,500 sq. ft. warehouse and, on average, employs 20 people. He owns large industrial equipment for bigger commercial jobs and has outfitted a fleet of professional vehicles to service his clients.

No-one is happier than Philip with how it all turned out. He has always enjoyed helping people and delivering a quality product to his customer. It turned out that he was a natural in this service-related industry, and takes great pride in the work he is doing. Regarding his philosophy towards job satisfaction and goals, Philip states, “It is a very personal thing for people, the way they choose to decorate their surroundings. I am privileged and honored when I am invited to participate in and am entrusted with this aspect of their lives.”

Philip has enjoyed much success and feels blessed to have grown to this level doing what he loves. Others would say that he has been very lucky, but he credits his “luck” to a commitment to quality, fairness, and timeliness combined with the development of an excellent crew of people who value the same and are trained and empowered to deliver that standard to the clients of CoverAll Painting and Repairs and CoverAll Carpet & Cleaning.

As with everything he does, Philip has worked hard to become highly educated in his industry. He has been sent to Graco for training with their products and has attended numerous other training seminars on surface applications and spray techniques. He even studied for and earned his general contractor’s license so that the quality of the finished product on exterior building repairs would not be affected by the choices that others made in the materials that his surfaces were covering.

This, of course, has led Philip into other areas of his industry involving construction and building renovations and repairs. This is truly two companies that have the education and experience to handle any job, both big and small. Partly because Philip’s business has been so active in the Gainesville apartment industry, and because Philip has earned such a great reputation for exceeding his customer’s expectations, he has recently opened a second business, CoverAll Carpet & Cleaning which has expanded into such comprehensive services as carpet cleaning and environmental A/C cleaning and maintenance. Tom Jarecki, CoverAll’s Operations Manager, is proud of his involvement in this area of the company. He comes to CoverAll with years of experience working for a nationally recognized restoration company and is capable of handling extensive cleaning and restoration projects.

Not only can they remove water to prevent damage immediately, but they can also take care of any affected drywall and cabinets that might occur as a result of standing water. CoverAll Carpet & Cleaning is a full service carpet cleaning company and offers 24 hour emergency water extraction, always performed by their highly trained and certified technicians, as well as odor removal, upholstery cleaning, spot removal and tile and grout cleaning.

One of the more recent services offered by CoverAll Carpet & Cleaning is the cleaning of AC ducts. Dust, Pollen, Dust mites, molds such as Stachybotys and Aspergillus produce Mycotoxins, that cause headaches, fatigue, depression, memory loss and asthma to name a few. Another current issue that is becoming more popularly known as bad bugs in AC units of buildings and homes is leading to such illnesses as pneumonia and MRSA infections, a staph infection that is now in the community. Philip’s own daughter suffered from this a year ago and was treated aggressively at Shand’s hospital. He has a very personal reason for becoming involved in the fight of removing this and other harmful bugs from the AC unit’s ductwork we are all breathing!

When he is not working, Philip is a very active parent to his two children, Peyton and Sim. Peyton is 9 years old and Sim recently turned 7 on New Years day. They both attend Queen of Peace Catholic Academy and are the apple of their father’s eye. Philip has coached basketball as part of their school activities and enjoys soccer, fishing, and diving with his children. He also is an avid spear fisherman and is in the process of earning his pilot’s license, since flying has always been a dream of his.

Philip is a proud resident of Gainesville. He feels at home here and is proud of the community he has chosen to build a life, operate a business, and raise his children in. Having been here long enough to see the vast changes, he is happy to see Gainesville continue to grow and maintain its position as one of the top cities to live and work. Philip is proud to say....GO GATORS!!!
