The great thing about living here is that on one tank of gas you can drive to so many great places. Here are a few of our top picks for your weekend getaway.

Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key, Watercolour Grill House

The property has a perfect location overlooking the inlet and across from the beach. The hotel’s restaurant, Watercolour, gives you expansive views of the inlet. We ordered the Signature Lump Crab Cake which was absolutely the best we have ever tried. Full of crab meat. Crisp on the outside and moist and tender inside with the perfect balance of zesty flavor in the key lime sauce. Hats off to their chef on this wonderful dish! By the way, the customer service at this hotel property is outstanding. 727-596-1100

Dali Museum St. Petersburg

The largest collection of Salvador Dali art work outside of Europe. Visitors can use the audio headset to listen to the story behind each piece of work. The museum building itself is a work of art with a cement spiral staircase that gives the illusion of going on forever and hand blown glass, rounded walls that let in natural light. There is also a small restaurant with a view of the water. The museum houses 7 out of 18 master paintings by Dali. 727-823-3767 TheDali.org

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Did you fall in love with the dolphin in the movie “Dolphin Tale’? Then you will want to visit the star who lives at this aquarium named, Winter. This sweet dolphin lost its tail when it was caught in a crab trap. The aquarium made her a prosthetic tail but, Winter has learned to swim without it, although she does have it on for half an hour a day for physical therapy. The material they used for the tail is now used for amputees of the human kind. 727-441-1790 SeeWinter.com

Sim Center

Be wowed at the real simulators for- Formula One Race Cars, Boeing 737, F-35 Lightning II, F-16 Viper, Airline Interview Preparation, and Space Simulator. I loved the Formula One car. Apparently out of 7,500 who test drive only 2 make it around the track…I was able to make it all the way around! It was addictive and I could see spending many hours here. The 737 was a lot of fun as I took off from Tampa International Airport and landed! This also makes a great gift idea for the men in your life. 727-643-1781 SimCenterTampaBay.com
