Brooke-and-the-Chef_webDid you know that it can be a constant 9 degrees Fahrenheit in Florida? ….that is if you visit ICE at Gaylord Palms. This is the most “over the top” spectacular Holiday attraction in the state and now in its seventh year. The massive convention hotel holds nearly 2 million pounds of ice that is hand carved by 40 artisans from Harbin, China into 3-dimentional colorful art.

Visitors can expect to be handed large warm coats upon entering and then guided through a winter wonderland that includes a visit from Old Man Winter, through an arctic forest, and into the middle of a life sized Christmas Carnival, complete with carousel! One of the main stays of the show is the life size nativity scene that looks as if it were made from highly polished glass. Huge colorful ice gingerbread houses, an ice train and other sculptors are there for children to climb, slide and explore. The most loved attractions are the cold and slippery ice slides that children and their parents just can’t get enough of.

You can thaw off after your North Pole experience by building a gingerbread house together with one of the hotel’s chefs and while sipping on some hot chocolate, this creates some wonderful lasting family holiday memories.

Top off your holiday experience with a visit to Gaylord Palms fine dining restaurant, Old Hickory Steakhouse located in the Everglade section of the hotel property. Chef Paul Player and his staff select only the finest ingredients for this romantic, rustic steakhouse. The array of cheeses from around the world is phenomenal and is complimented by the impressive wine collection. Only the highest quality 1855 Certified Premium Angus Beef is served and Chef Paul makes sure that it melts in your mouth! Try the Saut?ed Wild Mushrooms and the Garlic Mashed potatoes to compliment your steak and don’t eat too much as Chef Paul whips up a Grand Marnier Souffl? for desert.

Gaylord Palms Resort is one of Good Life Community’s favorite Florida resorts because it caters to families as well as business travelers and because of its continued high quality of the property as a whole.
