Siesta-Key-Drum-CircleDrum Circle I always plan my trip so that we stay over a Sunday night just so we can go to the drum circle on Siesta Key. This weekly event starts about an hour and a half before sunset. You will find about 500 people of all ages dancing and drumming on this wide stretch of white beach. It is a sight to be seen and visitors are welcome to join in. We take our djembe drum and dance the night away. This is a very colorful place. Make sure you leave time to find a good parking spot. Take chairs and your camera.

Blue Rooster Sarasota Florida

The Blue Rooster This will not disappoint you if you are looking for live Blues and Country music and good food. My son is a big hamburger critic, but even he loved the 100% Black Angus hamburger that was big enough for two. All the food was fresh and beautifully plated. Large long tables let you sit next to locals and the stage allows guest to get an intimate concert experience. www.BlueRoosterSRQ.com 941 388 7539

Almost-Heavan-Kayak-Tours Sarasota FloridaAlmost Heaven Kayak Adventure Across the street from the Helmsley our kayaks and guide awaited our arrival. A choice of double or single boats and life vests are available although we only went out in waist deep water. Shane, the tour guide is a graduate of UF and was thrilled to have some Gators on his tour. Our trip took us along the shoreline and past beautiful water front homes and then into the shade of the trails through the mangroves that showed us part of Sarasota we would not have seen any other way. These mangrove tunnels are something that everyone should see. Sunlight filters through the canopy and little crabs scurry away as you quietly paddle through. The tour lasted about two and a half hours. Shane knew all about the local history and wildlife as he stopped many times to point out places of interest and manatees, dolphins, and numerous birds. At one point he jumped out of the boat and pulled out a sea cucumber which he passed around to everyone. This company has several locations. www.KayakFl.com 941 504 6296
